PIPE REPLACEMENT Solutions

Our range of innovative polyethylene (PE) lining and coating technologies are designed to fix your problematic mains by removing leakage, repairing structural damage and treating corrosion.

Pipeline Rehabilitation

We restore integrity to your problematic mains, eradicate leakage and fix water quality.

Through cost-effective mains replacement solutions that protect your pipelines and continue to supply gas and water to your customers for decades into the future.

Lining Technologies

Our lining technologies focus on the reduction of operational expenditure by restoring integrity to your pipeline and  protecting pipes against future corrosion and damage.

By safeguarding against deterioration, we can remove the need for extensive maintenance and repair to expand asset lifetimes and improve your return on investment.

Mains replacement solutions

Specifically designed to upgrade or rehabilitate your existing pressure pipeline infrastructure, where access is difficult and reinstatement of maximum flow capacity is needed, our PE pipe lining technologies and solvent free spray coatings deliver a solution that is fast and simple to install.

They can be used in existing water, wastewater and utility gas networks, as well as onshore and offshore oil and gas systems, to restore structural integrity, retain capacity, prevent corrosion, maintain water quality and protect against future deterioration.

Structural and Semi-Structural PE Lining Systems

Whilst operational expenditure is an ongoing requirement for asset maintenance, pressure to reduce costs needs to be balanced against the commitment to ensure the safety of pipeline networks is maintained, whilst protecting and extending the lifetime of assets.

Corrosion resistant and able to retain your pipeline’s capacity, our semi-structural (or interactive) and structural Rolldown® and SublineTM PE pipe lining systems are used to resolve both damage and leakage, and restore the structural integrity of your pipelines to significantly increase their life expectancy.  Our solutions can be adapted to suit the bespoke needs of your project, with PE liners manufactured to specific SDRs, whilst our expert team are available to provide comprehensive support at every stage of your project.

Installation only requires small entry and exit pits or access points, minimising disruption to surrounding structures and local area, and reducing the need for material disposal. They are ideal for use where a rapid return to service is required.

ROLLDOWN®

DIAMETER REDUCED PE LINERS

Thick walled and fully pressure rated, this concentric reduction pipe lining system and process is ideal for the rehabilitation of structurally weakened or corroded pipelines and mains.

Our close-fit lining technology uses standard PE pipe that is butt-fusion welded into appropriate lengths and pushed through roller sets to reduce its diameter concentrically by approximately 10%.

This reduced diameter pipe is stable without the application of tension and can be inserted into the host pipeline using conventional sliplining techniques. This technique removes the need for high winching loads and therefore greatly reduces the stresses on the PE pipe and joints.

Once installed, the pipe is pressurised using cold water to revert it back towards its original diameter, retaining capacity and forming a close fit within the host pipe.

Features & Benefits

  • Standard polyethylene pipe sizes from 100mm to 500mm.
  • Bespoke pipe SDRs available to fit your project needs
  • Retains pipe flow capacity.
  • Approved for public drinking water and gas applications.
  • Fully pressure rated stand-alone pipe.
  • Gap spanning, hole and axial crack sealing & corrosion resistance.
  • Close-fit smooth bore polyethylene liner for maximum flow capacity.
  • Installation cost and environmental benefits over pipe replacement.
  • Flexibility of installation – once processed, the liner holds its reduced diameter until reversion.

SUBLINE™

SITE FOLDED PE LINERS

Suitable for the renovation and protection of steel, ductile iron, cast iron, asbestos cement and other pipelines to prevent corrosion and seal cracks or leaks.

Our Subline thin-walled, close-fit polyethylene lining technologies offer an interactive, semi structural solution for the renovation of pipelines.

Thin-walled polyethylene pipe is welded on site into long lengths and pushed through a former that folds the liner into a compact cross section. The folded pipe is then strapped with temporary bands and inserted into the host main, using standard sliplining techniques.  Once installed, the folded pipe is pressurised, allowing it to revert back to its original shape. This retains the pipe capacity and forms a continuous, pressure-tight close-fit lining within the host pipe.

Features & Benefits

  • Bespoke sizes and SDRs from 75mm to 1500mm.
  • Retains pipe flow capacity.
  • Standard polyethylene pipe resins with relevant approvals for gas and public drinking water contact.
  • Close-fit smooth bore polyethylene liner for maximum flow capacity.
  • Gap spanning, hole and circumferential crack sealing properties.
  • Corrosion-resistant barrier prevents further internal deterioration of host pipeline.
  • Material cost savings derived from using thin-walled liner pipe.
  • Pipe liners can negotiate bends up to 45°.
  • Full installation service or equipment rental available.

Restoring Drinking Water Quality

The corrosion and degradation of ageing metallic pipes can cause a loss of pressure, leakage and the pipe contents to become contaminated.

Subcote™ FLP is an innovative solvent-free lining solution for the protection and renovation of metallic structures and pipeline networks.

Subcote™

FLP spray-lining technology by Radius Systems

Our solvent-free Subcote™ FLP spray lining resin technology forms a smooth consistent, resistant barrier layer within the pipe, preventing contamination, restoring the quality of drinking water and retaining pipe capacity without the need for replacement.

A two-part fast-setting polyurethane resin with high adhesion properties, which has been used for several years for the renovation of drinking water pipelines, Subcote™ FLP was developed by Radius Subterra and manufactured by Radius Systems at our UK plant.  Applied and cured within one hour within existing pipelines, the implementation of Subcote™ FLP requires minimal excavation and does not block service outlets, allowing for a same day return to service.

Using a dedicated hand spraying system the resin can be applied to structures or equipment, whilst a dedicated machine can be used to spray the resin into pipelines in coatings from 1mm up to 7mm in a single pass in-situ to existing mains that need rehabilitation.

Features & Benefits

  • Pipe diameters from 75mm to 1500mm.
  • Spray thickness of 1mm to 7mm.
  • Approved for use in contact with public drinking water.
  • True polyurethane, epoxy-free, amine-free formulation.
  • Smooth coating for increased hydraulic properties.
  • Fast-setting – the pipeline can be re-commissioned after 1 hour cure.
  • Excellent strength and stiffness with no shrinkage.
  • Approved for use in drinking water pipelines worldwide, including: UK, USA, Poland, Romania Norway, Russia, China, South Korea and CIS countries
